Finally it’s here after the most gruelling lead up to this momentous achievement. The fairy factory has been running 17 hours a day for the last 3 years and just when I (Fairy Kate) thought there was nothing left in the fairy dust jar…all the fairies, gnomes, unicorns, and Garden Sparkle friends united as one force to push me through to the end of the tunnel, the launch of this amazing website. I had booked tickets for a Caribbean getaway however there’s no time for that now. Instead I’ve fastened my seat belt for the Christmas rush!!!
So this is our very first ‘official’ website blog post…mmmm ….there are so many things I could say in this first post, a bit about the birth of Garden Sparkle, a peek into my fairy heritage, how to design your own fairy garden (of course), where to start, what to do, encounters with hobbits in Sweden, how to spot a fairy, creative upcycling tips, my plans to study at the Icelandic Elf Academy, favourite fairy recipes and how to add maximum sparkle to your garden! Oh….but it’s too much for this present moment so I will just keep it simple.
I will share with you though, that I feel very blessed. Right now, sitting here at my work desk I am surrounded by magic. Next to my keyboard there is a little gnome trying out newly stocked butterfly chairs on his backside – perfect fit he says!
To the right of my printer is a fairy pineapple house (the lights inside are still flashing…there’s been a party going on inside for days). To my left there is a tangle of boxwood vine, zip lock bags, freshly painted party bunting and the last reindeer from Lapland (don’t worry more coming soon!). At my feet are two boxed fairy cottages – awaiting measuring and weighing before they are uploaded onto the website. I’ve got fairies and unicorns dancing across the top of my printer and behind me the room is packed floor to ceiling with boxes, baskets and fold out tables ready for the next Christmas market event in Cairns. Garden Sparkle is full and over flowing!
Reaching this point has been a phenomenal journey fuelled by a tremendous driving force of JOY, PASSION, CREATIVITY ,TRUST and of course FAIRY DUST. Along the way I’ve also experienced my fair share of ‘fairy blood, sweat, and tears’. In fact very few know this but I will let you in on a little secret… a magical drop of fairy sweat (containing magical properties, rare and priceless on the world market) is actually sent out with every Garden Sparkle parcel. Remember that the next time you receive something from me!
Before I sign off I just wanted to extend a fairy BIG THANK YOU to all of the kind hearts and helpful hands that have supported me along the way: Garden Sparkle Facebook fans and customers, the Cairns community and most importantly my beloved fairy family and friends! Without you this amazing creation wouldn’t have been possible.
From painting fairy doors to Business Booth mentoring, varnishing table tops to tech boss training, hammering the tiniest of nails into the tiniest of ladders, packaging kits to counting ladybugs, folding miniature laundry and topping up fairy dust jars….and the task of all tasks …painting a zillion spots on a zillion mushrooms when I needed it most! You know who you are and THANK YOU!
But for now, focus, stay on task! Christmas shopping is calling!
Welcome to the heart and soul of fairy gardening in Australia. Can’t wait to delight you even more!
